Finding: Eliane

Hey, guys!

Today we'll be hearing for a very special artist! Eliane is a fresh Etsy artist and a mom whose enthusiasm about our handmade heaven might be even stronger than mine! Without further delay, enjoy!

  • Share a bit of your story, please.
Hi, my name is Ellie and I run an Etsy shop called Petit Oiseau. I'm half French, hence the name and also have a passion and love for little birds!

I have always been a creative person and have a degree in Graphic Design. I then began a career in Visual Merchandising (shop window displays!) until I got married and had my gorgeous baby girl, Amelie Rose.

I am now enjoying being a stay at home mummy and when I am not playing dollies or teddy bears' picnics with her I love to do my art work. I am relatively new to Etsy but find that the site is the ideal place to sell my handmade canvases and cards. I also have market stalls at vintage fairs in my local area and am looking to create my own website.

I have finally found something that makes me truly happy and gets my art noticed and loved! Happy times!
  • What place does art have in your everyday life? How do you manage to balance creativity and chores?
As a mummy to a very active 9 months old baby I don't have a lot of spare time so I find myself doing my art when she is napping or into the wee hours of the morning! This is my "ME" time though and I absolutely love it!

I live by the sea and often go for long walks with her along the promenade which gives me plenty of time to think about new ideas and get inspired.
  • What is it that inspires you?
My baby girl! Her toys, the places we go together and chatting to other mums are the perfect inspiration for me. I have been at my prime artistically since having her, I think it's all the happy hormones!
  • What do you expect to happen to your Etsy store in the future? Where do you see yourself in one year?
I would love to create lots more and have different ranges of products on my Etsy store in a year's time and to be selling lots and lots! However, just having the chance for my art to be seen by millions of people is amazing in itself!
  • Any strategy to help you achieve your artistic goals? Would you share one tip with all new-born artists?
Well, I'm not going to give up, not everyone will love my work but some will and those people are the ones that make me smile! And my tip... Be prepared to work hard and always find time to be creative and do what makes you happy.
  • Anything else you'd like to say?
Yes - come and visit my Etsy shop! And... Buttons rule!

Thank you, Eliane, for the inspiring interview and the especially quick and professional response! Want to see more of Eliane's creations? Go to her Etsy shop Petit Oiseau and keep an eye for her own site's opening!

Use your other one to follow Handmade Discoveries, because next Monday I'll be having a bit more to share in terms of photos and experiences than "Oh, my enthusiasm died"! Sadly, I won't be getting the training I was hoping to get and my project has not been responded to. Nevertheless, I won't quit and I'll look for another way to realize it! Back to the blog, that means I'll be around quite often! Hope you've felt inspired and high spirited by today's Finding post!

Enjoy a creative weekend and do at least 3 things you've wanted to do for a long time,

Bilyana
